Resurrection of Duke Werstein ~ I Didn't Hear Anything About Being a Middle-aged Man ~ Special 2

Updated: Mar 1, 2022

Christia Laurist, the eldest child of a Countess, is 11 years old.

Although she is a young girl, she is famous for her talent, but her appearance and behavior can easily be misunderstood as bad character. In her room, she is enjoying a cup of tea prepared by her maid of honor.

Her appearance is elegant despite her young age, and even her daily gestures are appropriate for a young lady.

No wonder, her bloodline is close to the royal family and she is related to them.

She even has an uncle who is a duke.

Although he has his own qualities and abilities, but he himself still thinks himself immature, the world is really an unpredictable place.

"Hey Lina, why is it that we can use magic?"

When the girl tilted her head with such a question, blinking her large, characteristic light green eyes, her straight golden hair swayed freely.

The eyes glistening in the sunlight were like jewels.

The person who answers this question is a brown-haired maidservant called Lina, who is proud to be the girl's personal attendant and confidante.

The maidservant was five years older than the girl, but since she had been around since the girl's birth, she had a strong relationship of trust with her, and was even like family to her.

“Is it not because the great gods gave it to us when they created men?"

"No, Lina, I don't want to hear about fairy tales and legends, I want to know how it works."

"Hmm, I've only heard of ......, but I've heard somewhere that when you use magic, spirit-samas are helping you."

The Lord asked a philosophical question about an ordinary everyday topic, and the maidservant answered as if it were a matter of course, without changing her expression.

This is of course because she knows that the girl is intelligent and has a broad perspective that allows her to question various things.

“Spirits?"

"Yes, but young lady, shouldn't you ask your magic teacher about these things?"

“I can't ask a teacher, they won't say anything that's not in the book. Besides, Lina is my prized handmaiden, there's no problem with that."

"Thank you very much."

The girl nodded proudly and took a sip of tea.

And then, after letting out a breath, she muttered in wonder.

“Of that's the case, then why is the spirit-sama helping us?"

"Uhhm, ....... I don't know that much either."

The girl nodded her head in agreement to the maid who tilted her head in puzzlement, then placed the cup of tea on the saucer.

"So, thank you. I'd like to ask you a question, Lina."

"Yes, what is it?"

The girl suddenly seemed to have an idea and called out to the maidservant.

"Can you watch me for a moment?"

"If the young lady is not in danger."

She knew from experience that sometimes the Lord's "requests" were a mixture of the recklessness and the unreasonable.

This is why the girl smiled at the maidservant's comment about her preemptive action.

"Don't worry, we're only going to train to circulate the magic now."

"Very well, then I will refrain from doing so."

Knowing that the girl is not the kind of person who would lie, the maid of honor agreed without question.

The girl smiled contentedly at the maid, who gave a small bow.

"Watch me."

She then folded her hands in front of her chest as if in prayer and closed her eyes.

Then a firefly-like light, different from the sunlight coming in through the window, began to flit around the girl.

The lights floating in the air were colorful, and the maidservant's heart could not help but be filled with wonder and excitement at the fantastic, never-before-seen sight.

"Wow, ...... beautiful ......."

"It is said that this phenomenon often occurs in people with high magical power, and the principle is still not well understood.

Hey Lina, after listening to you, I was wondering if this light could be a spirit-sama.

The flickering light was changing the girl's golden hair into various pale colors.

The maidservant narrowed her eyes, dazzled by the girl's smiling face, which looked like a work of art.

"If that were true, it would be very nice, Miss."

"Yes, but I'm still just guessing, so I'll ask the professor next time. I'm sure he won't answer."

"I look forward to your report."

The girl who had been giggling with the maid suddenly smiled, showing her teeth like a little boy who had come up with a prank.

Even the maidservant smiled, showing her teeth in the same way, without frowning at this unladylike behavior.

"Hey, Lina, I have an idea.”

"It's a strange coincidence, my lady, me too.”

"At the same time."

"Let's show it to oji-sama!

"Let's show it to Duke Werstein!"

They realized that they had both said the same thing at almost the same time, and erupted without either of them realizing it.

They were both smiling with their hands covering their mouths, but their shoulders were shaking so much that they looked like real sisters.

"Hmmm, I hope oji-sama will be pleased."

"Yes, I'm sure."

Until nightfall, the girl's room was filled with the sound of happy laughter.
